HARGEISA WATER AGENCY SOMALILAND – NWSC CAPACITY BUILDING PARTNERSHIP LAUNCHED

Last week, National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), Uganda embarked on a capacity building partnership with Hargeisa Water Agency in Somaliland.

The Water Operators Partnership is funded by the European Union and led by the UN Habitat’s GWOPA

Under the partnership, NWSC will share best practices and NEXT practices in Utility Management with the Somaliland based Utility under the Water Operators Partnership (WOP) Framework.

The official launch was graced by the Somaliland Minister of Planning Hon Umar Ali Abdulai and the Managing Director Hargesia Water Agency, Mr. Mohammed Ali.

Mr. Mohammed Ali thanked the funders and partners for the initiative that came at the right time and committed his total support for the project.

He appreciated NWSC and Uganda as a country for the unwavering support towards the transformation of his country.

The Director of Technical Department in Hargeisa Water Agency appreciated the historic partnership with NWSC, Uganda.

“We appreciate the continuous support from NWSC and relationship between the two utilities that has stemmed for years.” he said.

NWSC-Uganda representative, the Director Commercial and Customer Service shared NWSC’s passion to transform utilities.

“We are happy to collaborate with HWA and exchange knowledge in the spirit of the South to South Cooperation” he said

NWSC- Uganda was represented by the Director Commercial and Customer service George Okol, Manager Water Production Mr. Joseph Tweheyo and the Principal Eng External Services, Mr. Allan Kaford

NWSC-Uganda has implemented over 45 WOPs in various countries across Africa.
