Access to clean and safe water is undeniably a fundamental human right. Therefore, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has been tirelessly expanding its distribution network to fulfill this right, ensuring that every individual’s basic need for safe water is met. In the fiscal year 2024, the Water Supply Department of Kampala Water unveiled a series of projects aimed at enhancing supply reliability, particularly in areas facing water shortages. Among these initiatives is the Seeta-Gomma via Bukerere project phase one, targeting the boosting of supply to areas like Bukerere, Namwezi-Hill, Kagala, Goma, and beyond.

Leading the charge is Eng. Huzaira Nalwoga, the Eastern Zone Network Manager, who spearheaded a field visit alongside engineers from Mulstar Technical Services, the contracted firm for this specific project. Traversing significant distances, the teams are set to lay a 4.7km pipe of DN350/250 meticulously. Eng. Nalwoga emphasized to the contractor the critical importance of ensuring precise connections from the project’s inception to its conclusion, as the teams closely monitored trench works from Seeta water tank to Namasiga, ensuring that every step adheres to the highest standards of quality and precision.

With an ambitious budget of approximately Ugx1 billion, the project is poised to positively impact over 1500 households in Mukono District. Expected to span roughly four months, this endeavor is a significant stride towards enhancing water accessibility and improving the lives of community members. Notably, the continued support of management has been instrumental in ensuring the success of these endeavors as NWSC strives to enhance water accessibility and service delivery for all.
