Efforts to restore stable water supply in Bweyale have taken a major step forward with the commencement of drilling works in Chopeluo. This follows the collapse of the Kyabakoke borehole, which previously accounted for 35% of the area’s total water yield, delivering 17 cubic meters per hour.
Reddy’s Technical Services, the contractor engaged by National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), is now on-site and ready to begin operations. The new borehole is intended to recover the lost yield and strengthen the overall water supply system in the region.
The project team has also secured the necessary approvals from the landlord of the proposed drilling site in Chopeluo, clearing the way for uninterrupted progress.
Notably, NWSC’s top management has been instrumental in fast-tracking this intervention, offering both strategic direction and resource support. Their commitment, combined with the hands-on expertise of the Static team, has made it possible to swiftly mobilize and act on this urgent challenge, for which the Bweyale team on ground is utterly grateful.
Work is officially underway, and progress updates will be shared in due course. While the loss of the Kyabakoke source was a setback, this new development clearly depicts NWSC’s readiness to respond, adapt, and ensure that the people of Bweyale continue to receive safe, reliable water supply.
