CANAANSITES LIMITED TRANSFERS WATER SUPPLY NETWORK TO NWSC

For over a decade, Canaansites Limited has been a committed provider of tap water to the Canaansites estates, supplying over 500 households through a borehole unit approved by the Ministry of Water and Environment.

This was due to the fact that Gayaza, was once plagued by chronic water shortages. However, the area turned a corner with the commissioning of the Katosi Drinking Water Treatment Plant. The project alleviated years of water scarcity, bringing a reliable water supply to areas previously underserved.

With this development, Canaansites Limited as of July 10th, 2024 transferred its water supply network to the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), the mandated authority in charge of water and sewerage services, to ensure that the 500 households in the Canaansites estate-Gayaza can enjoy a reliable and sustainable water supply.

This transfer, however, excludes the borehole, the main feeder pipe to the overhead tanks, and the two overhead tanks, which will remain under the management of Canaansites Limited.

The residents have been informed about the upcoming tariff adjustments in line with NWSC’s guidelines, a necessary step to align with the national standards and ensure continued quality service. This collaboration is expected to yield mutual benefits, improving water and sanitation service delivery for Canaan Estates residents and enhancing business growth at NWSC’s Gayaza branch.
