During the district budget conference, the first stage in the budget cycle for local governments, Bushenyi District Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Willy Bataringaya inquired about the possibility of partnering with the National Water and Sewerage Corporation in a tree planting initiative.

The district plans to plant approximately 120,000 tree seedlings of different species and in different parts of the district during the 2023/24 Financial Year and thought it wise to partner with the Water and Wastewater management utility especially now that NWSC in itself is running a greening campaign dubbed the “NWSC Green Tree-volution”.

Notably, the “NWSC Green Tree-volution” aims to tackle the effects of adverse climatic change and variability that have had great impact on the water bodies and thus constraining NWSC’s raw water extraction and affecting its supply reliability. The corporation intends to plant over 10 Million trees by 2023.
