In a bid to address recent heated concerns of the Busaabala community, the Kampala Water (KW) Busaabala Sub-Branch Manager, Mr. Douglas Kukundakwe, took a proactive stance by initiating a comprehensive sensitization drive. This move came in the wake of persistent unrest in the area, stemming from the impasse caused by road rehabilitation efforts being hampered by National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) infrastructure.

On the ground, the community found itself at a stalemate as road grading efforts were brought to a halt due to the presence of Water Pipe Mains belonging to NWSC. Frustration mounted, and the bile of the community was directed towards the NWSC-Kampala Water team in Busaabala.

In response to the uproar, Mr. Kukundakwe stepped forward to engage stakeholders and clarify the corporation’s commitment to customer satisfaction emphasizing NWSC’s openness to collaboration with other entities to enhance the well-being of its customers. Breaking through the communication barrier, Mr. Kukundakwe highlighted the intricacies of road works, shedding light on the role of sub-contractors responsible for pipe relocation.

Acknowledging the pressing need for swift action, the Sub-Branch Manager-Busaabala assured the community that NWSC would liaise with the sub-contractor to expedite the relocation of pipes, and ensure that the relocation is done carefully to prevent any damage that could potentially disrupt water supply to the area.

Beyond the immediate infrastructure concerns, Mr. Kukundakwe seized the opportunity to address various other issues affecting the community as the stakeholders were enlightened on crucial matters, including reporting leakages and bursts to curb Non-Revenue Water, understanding the new water connection procedure, embracing E-Billing, settling bills to maintain a zero balance, and facilitating discussions for those with suppressed accounts to restore their water supply.

Mr. Douglas Kukundakwe simply took a step in the right direction when he promptly engaged the stakeholders and that way diffused tension within the community, and also demonstrated NWSC’s unwavering commitment to the betterment of its stakeholders’ livelihoods.
