In a recent Kampala Water (KW) Partners meeting hosted at the International Resource Center (IREC), Dr. Frank Kizito, the Senior Manager of Asset Management, unveiled the eagerly awaited details of the upcoming revenue audit exercise scheduled for 8th and 9th August 2023. The audit is set to be a pivotal step in enhancing KW’s financial integrity and optimizing revenue streams, promising a transparent and accountable approach to revenue management.

Territory leaders will play a pivotal role in the audit process, focusing on selected accounts that meet specific criteria. These criteria include accounts that have been active on supply but have made no payments in the last three months and accounts with outstanding balances exceeding 100,000 UGX for domestic and PSPs accounts, and 200,000 UGX for commercial and institutional accounts.

To ensure efficiency and accuracy, auditors have been allocated a manageable portfolio of between 50 to 70 accounts per auditor. This approach aims to boost the response rate and subsequently increase the rate of debt collection, ultimately targeting over 1.6 billion UGX in revenues.

Central to the audit process is the utilization of a cutting-edge meter audit app, designed to capture relevant data with precision and efficacy. By embracing this technology, KW aims to enhance transparency and consistency in the audit findings, fostering trust among stakeholders and promoting data-driven decision-making.

Beyond the immediate financial goals, the revenue audit holds far-reaching significance for KW. Upholding the organization’s financial integrity is paramount, and the data-driven approach ensures that every facet of revenue management is meticulously scrutinized.

Incorporating a data-driven approach means that the audit’s outcomes will be based on concrete evidence and factual figures. This approach enhances accountability and helps stakeholders gain a comprehensive understanding of revenue management practices. As a result, KW can make informed decisions and strategize effectively to maximize revenue streams and financial efficiency.

The revenue audit exercise represents KW’s dedication to maintaining its reputation as a trusted and reliable utility provider. By addressing arrears and streamlining revenue streams, the company can ensure a sustainable financial future while providing uninterrupted service to its customers.

The upcoming revenue audit exercise by KW’s Top Management is a pivotal endeavor to enhance the region’s financial integrity. Through a data-driven approach, the audit is poised to deliver transparent and accountable revenue management practices, ensuring that KW maximizes revenue streams and secures its position as a reliable utility provider. This way, KW sets a compelling example for other regions seeking to bolster their financial standing and improve their services. The revenue audit is not just an exercise in numbers but a testament to KW’s commitment to service excellence.
