As the annual Martyr’s Day celebrations approach, various agencies and organizations are working tirelessly to ensure the welfare and safety of the pilgrims, tourists, and business communities planning to settle in Namugongo on June 3rd. Among these dedicated contributors is the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), which has taken on the responsibility of ensuring the availability of reliable water supply during this significant event.

Recognizing its expertise in water management, NWSC-Kampala Water has dedicated its efforts to guaranteeing a reliable water supply for the occasion. Under the leadership of Senior Engineer-Asset Management, Eng. Kansiime Baker, a team from Kampala Water joined forces with the fire brigade led by Commander Afande Draman on May 24th, 2023.

Together, they diligently inspected all fire hydrants along the route from the Naalya roundabout up to the Namugongo Anglican shrine. The objective was to identify any faulty hydrants and address them promptly before the Martyr’s Day celebrations.

In addition to inspecting the fire hydrants, NWSC ensured that the estate managers of both shrines were actively involved in the process. They were taken on a comprehensive tour of the fire hydrant sites, accompanied by the fire brigade. During this tour, the fire brigade provided valuable illustrations on how the hydrants could be best utilized in the unfortunate event of a fire outbreak. This collaborative effort between KW, estate managers, and the Fire Brigade is a testament to their commitment to safety and preparedness.

The dedication of NWSC-KW and other sister agencies to ensuring the safety of the pilgrims, tourists, and business communities during the Martyr’s Day celebrations is commendable. By meticulously inspecting and repairing fire hydrants, NWSC-KW aims to mitigate any potential fire hazards that may arise. Their proactive approach and attention to detail demonstrate their commitment to the well-being of the guests attending this significant event.

This move by NWSC-KW’s contribution to this year’s Martyr’s Day celebration is invaluable. By prioritizing the availability of reliable water supply and collaborating with other agencies, they have played a crucial role in ensuring the safety and welfare of all attendees.
