NWSC UPGRADES REGIONAL WATER QUALITY STAFF

The National Water and Sewerage Corporation’s (NWSC) Water Quality (WQ) Management Department held a 3-day hands-on practical training of all Water Quality Area Staff in the Northern, Eastern Western and Central Regions

Held at water/wastewater treatment facilities, the training was done with the aim of assessing the level of staff competence and re-skilling them to meet the aspirations of the corporation while addressing the emerging challenges. 

The WQ specialists were trained in new analytical techniques in both water and wastewater quality. Topics covered include; Sampling techniques, Analytical techniques, Standard Operation Procedures, Jar test/chlorine demand/marble tests experiments followed by dose application at the plants, Process Control & chemical cost optimization, Equipment O&M, Wastewater Monitoring, and, Area Service Improvement Plans.

The training also put emphasis on development of Area Action Plans/IPAs to enable and ease the quarterly appraisal process recommended by NWSC Top Management. 

Notably, the training sessions were very practical and interactive as each member had an opportunity to participate in the different activities and was given a platform to query.
