UMEME URGED TO PARTNER WITH NWSC TO ENSURING RELIABLE SUPPLY TO THE PEOPLE

The Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, Hon. Rt Hon. Thomas Tayebwa on Monday 29.8.22 while checking on the progress of the construction of a 60 cubic meters reservoir tank at Kati LC1 in Kanyabwanga Sub-county -Mitooma District, appealed to UMEME to partner with National Water and Sewerage Corporation so as to ensure reliable power supply at NWSC installations.

Rt. Hon. Tayebwa called upon UMEME and NWSC to work as partners in development as both utilities are at the forefront of progress. He added that with a reliable power supply, water production and supply would also reliably increase and stabilize. 

Notably, the ongoing reservoir tank construction works are expected to be completed in the next 3 weeks according to the technical Advisor for the Ankole sub-region and General Manager Mbarara, Eng. Francis Kateeba.

This 35m tank is expected to be in use by the end of Sept 2022 and shall supply the Sub-counties of Kanyabwanga and Kigyende in Ruhinda North -Mitooma District, and pumpage from the Kati source to the tank shall be solar powered.

The Deputy Speaker was accompanied by; Woman MP Mitooma-Hon Juliet Bashiisha, LC5 C/man-Mr. Benon Karyeija, RDC Mitooma-Mr. Kibuuka Francis, MD UMEME-Mr. Celestine Babungi among many others 

The team also checked on the progress of other projects in the constituency.
