
As a pre-water week event, MWE Friday collaborated with NWSC, KCCA and Bulungi bwa’nsi-Buganda kingdom to clean Kitintale market.
The annual Uganda Water and Environment Week (UWEWK), celebrated every 20th to 25th of March is organised by the Ministry of Water and Environment through the Water Resources Institute (WRI). The week-long event will involve annual commemoration of three important International Days; World Forest Day (March 21st), World Water Day (March 22nd) and World Meteorological Day (March 23rd) on 22rd March 2022.
NWSC was applauded for production of quality, clean safe water by Nakawa East MP – Hon. Ronald Balimwezo.
While speaking to the locals, he emphasized the need for environmental hygiene. “Most diseases stem from poor hygiene, which can be avoided through cleaning the environment”, he said.
Mayor Nakawa division – Paul Mugambe advised the community members to make a habit of cleaning their communities and practice proper rubbish disposal which is one of the biggest health challenges in the community.

The event was attended by the local leadership, market authority, the tweyoje KCCA group, coordinator water resources institute- Gwendolyn Kyoburungi.
Representing NWSC was the Manager PR KW-Vivien Newumbe who preached the NWSC gospel and affordability of water.
The UWEWK provides an interface between sector stakeholders for improvement of Uganda’s water and environment resources.
It also set a standard for a cleaning culture within the market.
