The National Water and Sewerage Corporation prides itself in ensuring a great service to all Ugandans. This service is however stalled when individuals choose to vandilise the very equipment bound to ensure water supply stability to the people and in a way hindered progress in the fight against Non-Revenue Water.

Against this, the corporation has teamed up with local leaders and law enforcement to curb down the vice.

Mpigi Area for one, has been experiencing rampant pipe Vandalism and theft especially the pipes on pedestals in swampy areas of the network hence constant supply interruption t customers which in turn has been a menace to operations.

However, the criminals had it coming to them when the NWSC-Mpigi Area team widened and intensified their hunt with the help of the area’s Uganda Police Force (UPF), HQ and Area security teams, recovering the DI 12pcs DN200 on a transmission main which transfer bulky water from Buwama to Gombe branch that were stolen Thursday night. The pipes were recovered from an impounded truck along Ndeeba-Kampala.

This is a big catch for the Area and Corporation in general as three suspects are under custody and will appear to the utility court on Monday 20th December 2021.

The team pledged to continue working closely with the security organs till the area is rid of this criminality. The NWSC team also appreciated the UPF, NWSC-Mpigi Manager Security, Stephen and team, for their vigilance, swift response and coordinated intelligence gathering following the tip-off that led to the arrest of the suspects.

Customers and stakeholders have been notified of the predicament as NWSC works tirelessly to have supply restored ASAP.

NWSC remains committed to “Water for All”.
