Auditors from the UNBS Product Certification Division met with the General Manager Kampala Water, Eng. Mahmood Lutaaya, the Senior Manager Water Production Department-Eng. Andrew Muhwezi and the other K💧SAN Instant Hand Sanitizer Production team, in a rigorous audit and Process-inspection drive.

The Audit was aimed at verifying compliance with the requirements of the Ugandan Standard for Instant Hand Sanitizer; US EAS 789:2013.

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a statutory body accountable for developing, promoting and enforcing standards in protection of public health and safety and the environment against dangerous and sub-standard products.

Pending review of the processing of K💧SAN instant hand sanitizers from raw material reception, through the in-process activities, up to the final product, the auditors strongly recommended that the sanitizer achieves the Quality Mark.

In the closing meeting of the Audit, Eng. Lutaaya appreciated the auditors for successfully carrying out the Audit process and pledged full support to the Senior Manager Water Production and the Sanitizer Production team in attaining the Q Mark next month.

Sales of hand sanitizer are skyrocketing due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), leading to rationing and price hikes, something that National Water and Sewerage Corporation has stayed ahead and on top of with this in-house made hand sanitizer.

The innovation started in April 2021 with the preparation of at least 30 batches, each with 300L of sanitizer totaling to 9000 liters.
