To succeed, an organization must have a clear vision derived from a vigorous and effective strategic planning process which can only come from stakeholder engagement. The National Water and Sewerage Corporation seems to share the same sentiments as the organization has come up with multiple programmes designed to connect with its stakeholders, both internally and externally. With Bushenyi Area taking the lead in the latest stakeholder engagement innovation dubbed “stakeholder connect”.

The program which was launched on 27th November 2021, took advantage of the corporation’s ongoing “Green Treevolution” campaign. An initiative which aims to tackle the effects of adverse climatic change and variability that have had great impact on the water bodies and thus constraining NWSC’s raw water extraction and affecting its supply reliability, leading to customer dissatisfaction.

The launch of the “Stakeholder Connect” program was characterized by a mass tree planting exercise at the Bushenyi-Ishaka municipal grounds with the LC5 Chairman Bushenyi District Local Government, Hajji Jafari Basajabalaba taking on the honors of presiding over the ceremony.

Hajji Jafari Basajabalaba heaped praises on the NWSC and its Managing Director, Dr Eng. Silver Mugisha for taking the corporation to greater heights in a short period. He thanked NWSC for igniting the communities to protect the environment and secure the future,

Also present at the function was Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipal Mayor, Mr. Richard Byaruhanga, all the Municipal Division Mayors and Resident District Commissioner representative.

The students from Bushenyi Vocational Institute (BVI) and Municipal youths groups participated in the tree planting exercise before their football match at Bushenyi main stadium. The youth were educated that since the future belongs to them, they need to protect the environment by planting trees, trees of different species were availed to these different groups for planting, many preferred fruit trees which were also available.

The program will soon be rolled out in other districts including; Sheema, Mbarara and others in the Ankole sub-region.

NWSC remains committed to Water for All, for a delighted customer by a delighted workforce.
