NWSC flags off 5 to Netherlands

The Training & Capacity Development department today flagged off a team of 5 NWSC staff who were awarded scholarships to study a one year Masters in Sanitation degree from IHE Delft in the Netherlands. 

The scholarships are funded by both NWSC and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in line with the Strategic Priority Area of Skilling and Workforce Development under the Corporate Plan 2021 – 2024. 

The scholarship opportunities were advertised internally to all NWSC staff and the five successful staff who were awarded the scholarships are;

1. Morena Akurut (Network Engineer)

2.Agea Denis (Senior Engineer)

3.Arinaitwe Julius (Projects Engineer)

4. Anthony Ojok (Principal Engineer)

5. Akoit Isaac (Quality Control Officer).

 

The one year Masters programme is dedicated to targeting needs and delivering specialists in a short time, with the necessary qualifications. It aims at attracting  talented and ambitious young and mid- career sanitation professionals, working in water and sewerage sector 

The masters programme will benefit NWSC in improving skills in sanitation and sewerage services, contribute to NWSC staff retention strategy, as the beneficiary staff will be bonded to work with NWSC for a 3-year period.

 The move will help ensure continuity in key position
