KAMPALA WATER’S WALOPU GEARS UP TO FIGHT NON-REVENUE WATER

The Water Loss Prevention Unit (WALOPU) commenced the new financial year with a game plan mostly invested in investigations on non-revenue water especially against the fact that Kampala Water loses between 37-40% to non-revenue water with a significant contribution of illegal water usage on a monthly basis.

With the Katosi Water Plant now commissioned, WALOPU will collaborate with Kampala Water Branches to prevent an overwhelming increase in non-revenue water.

Plans to curb this vice include revamping of operatives, maintaining partnerships with local authorities and law enforcement agencies and utilizing the media to expose the culprits.

Evidently, WALOPU operations are greatly significant in curbing water theft and vandalism of Corporation property. With this, the rate of non-revenue water is set to significantly reduce hence saving the Corporation losses.
