The ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the most sacred month in Islamic culture; Ramadhan, is a period of fasting, prayer and reflection. Muslims all-over the world aim to grow spiritually and build stronger relationships with Allah.

So, What better way to set oneself right with the Almighty and the people simultaneously than making one’s actions intentional and selfless while staying committed  to managing the social, environmental and economic effects of one’s operations responsibly and in line with public expectations.

So during this Holy month, the Management and staff of NWSC are giving charity to communities that most certainly could use a helping hand. General Manager-Kampala Water, Mr. Mahmood Lutaaya led a team to Nakivubo and depicted selflessness towards the Foundation for Muslims with Disabilities whereas the Director Human Resource Ms. Christine Amucu together with  the Branch Manager- Bwaise, Ms. Zahm Musoke led another team to Mbogo Mosque with their hearts set on the elderly in the community.

The cherry on top happened to be the special grand Iftar dinner hosted at the corporation’s International Resource Center.  The event kicked off with Magrib prayers led by H.E. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje followed by an address from the General Manager-Kampala Water, Mr. Mahmood Lutaaya who appreciated the Muslim community for always gracing the occasion and pledged the corporation’s support towards the Muslim community activities and excellent service delivery in Kampala.

NWSC Board chairman Eng. Hajji Badru Kiggundu appreciated the corporation for the kind gesture during the holy month of Ramadan. “May the Almighty Allah most gracious most merciful protect you all.”

“Muslims pray five times a day and water is part of Islam. Thank you for always hosting the Muslim community for Iftar during the Holy Month of Ramadan. I urge all Muslims to pay bills on time and help the corporation extend services to more people,” stated the supreme Mufti H.E. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje. He concluded his remarks by urging those present to continue observing the stipulated SOPs in order safe themselves against the deadly Covid-19.

The various rendezvous  gave the NWSC teams a platform to reassure the customers of the NWSC’s commitment to service above self and nurture the seed of reliable water supply that is to say; the Katosi Water project bound to tackle the no-water issues in Kampala and surrounding areas.

Ag. Managing Director Eng. Johnson Amayo during the Iftra dinner at IREC, shared that NWSC is nothing without the Muslim community. “Our brothers and sisters use a lot of water daily. We don’t take their support for granted” .He also shared the corporation’s success stories and attributed them to the contribution of the hardworking Muslim managers and staff. He congratulated the Muslim community for successfully going through the holy month o far. “We found it necessary to call you and thank you for supporting the corporation.” Eng. Amayo stated, adding that the Corporation doesn’t discriminate in religion. We’re all working to develop Uganda together.” he concluded.

Customer loyalty is key and in that regard, Mr. Lutaaya assured the community in Nakivubo, “ “As NWSC, we are mandated to ensure our customers’ delight so in the spirit of everything RAMADHAN, we stand with you”.  On the other hand, Ms. Musoke called upon those present at the Mbogo Mosque to freely co-ordinate and interact with the staff and the cooperation at large for better service by reporting any supply anomalies and also re-echoed the need to come clean about illegal connections if any, so as to be set straight on legal supply.

Notably, during the Iftar dinner, the customers received gifts in appreciation of their support towards NWSC.
