NWSC’S STRATEGIC LEAP FOR INDUSTRIAL AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT IN MBALE

The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) in Mbale has taken a decisive step toward transforming the region’s water infrastructure. With the delivery of 265 new pipes, securing the full stock required to complete a planned 3-kilometer water network extension to the Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park. Already, 1.5 kilometers of trenching and pipe laying have accomplished clear evidence of momentum toward a future of reliable water access to the industrial park.

This extension is more than a technical project; it is a cornerstone of Mbale’s industrialization journey. The pipeline installation works are set to begin, providing a reliable water supply to the industrial park, which includes the planned toilet paper manufacturing factory and the over 30 factories anticipated to be set up within the industrial park.

The project represents a strategic investment in Mbale’s economic future. Reliable water supply is not only essential for industrial production but also a catalyst for investor confidence. By strengthening service coverage, NWSC is positioning itself as a trusted partner in Uganda’s industrial growth story.

High-volume consumption accounts from factories will drive long-term revenue growth for the utility, ensuring sustainability while expanding access. For Mbale City, this means jobs, improved services, and a stronger reputation as a hub for modern industry.

NWSC’s initiative in Mbale reflects its broader mission: to extend safe, clean water to communities while supporting Uganda’s Vision 2040 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The industrial park project reflects NWSC’s ambition balancing infrastructure expansion with economic empowerment and environmental stewardship.

The NWSC acknowledges the Uganda Investment Authority, whose collaboration has ensured timely infrastructure development and service delivery within several industrial parks spread across the country.
