The Sewerage Services Directorate (SSD) of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has launched an in-house liquid soap production project spearheaded by the SSD Quality Control team. The project aims to curb costs and reduce dependency on external suppliers by manufacturing the soap internally with minimal investment in raw materials and machinery.
This internally produced soap will serve a dual purpose: maintaining high standards of cleanliness within NWSC facilities and providing a reliable and cost-effective solution for hygiene maintenance in challenging environments. The project, though in its emerging stages, has already outlined a plan to distribute pilot samples to key locations, including the Sewerage Services Directorate, Central Laboratory, International Resource Center, and Lubigi Sewerage Treatment Plant. This phased approach is designed to assess the soap’s effectiveness and gather valuable feedback before the broader rollout to the rest of the corporation’s workstations.
The soap is intended as a general-purpose detergent, tailored to meet the stringent hygiene requirements of both field teams and office staff. It is expected to be particularly effective for washing floors and field clothing, which are often exposed to harsh conditions.
With this project, the SSD is positioning itself to better manage resources and ensure consistent hygiene standards across NWSC operations.
