World Vision Uganda is aiding the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) in realising its promise of water for all via a project aimed at enhancing access to clean, safe water, covering over 4.8 kilometres across five villages (Salye, Nsanvu, Kyambogo, Luwombo, Kooba, and Kisaala) in Buikwe and an additional 5.2 kilometres in Nkokonjeru.

In a recent meeting, it was highlighted that this extension will significantly improve access to safe water for the least privileged members of the community.

Notably, World Vision has invested over Ugx3 billion in the Lugazi area, with a significant portion allocated to Buikwe, with the aim of availing safe water to some of the most underserved communities in the region.

This partnership between NWSC and World Vision has already borne fruit with the drilling and construction of two motorised boreholes powered by both hydro and solar energy. Additionally, a 102-cubic-metre water reservoir tank has been erected, and more than 50 public standpipes have been connected and constructed. These extensions have also benefited over 10 institutions and one major industrial connection, the country’s largest exporter of processed pork, along with numerous domestic connections.

Eng. Komaketch, leading the World Vision team, echoed the organisation’s commitment to serving more Ugandans, stating, “This is only the beginning of more great things to come.” The NWSC Lugazi area and Buikwe branch teams, represented by Technical Supervisors Mubiru Michael Kyobe and Kalende James, echoed the same sentiment..

With this latest initiative, NWSC’s partnership with World Vision Uganda is a true blessing as the organisations continue to make strides in enhancing access to water and sanitation services, reinforcing their commitment to improving the lives of Ugandans.
