Mubende, Uganda – In a commendable move towards enhancing water supply and sanitation services, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Mubende Office has made significant advancements, promising a brighter future for residents in Mubende and Kasanda Districts. Eng. Christopher Mwandah, the Area Manager, highlighted these achievements during a presentation to the Senior Manager Operations-Central region, revealing a transformative journey for the area.

Eng. Mwandah shared that the Mubende Area now serves 112 villages, generating a billing of over UGX 224 million. The area boasts an impressive average water sales volume of 52,741m³, despite grappling with a Non-Revenue Water (NRW) rate of 21%. Among the most notable achievements is the completion of the EACOP Water Expansion Project, a critical development that significantly boosts the region’s water supply capacity.

However, Mubende’s ambition doesn’t stop there. Several ongoing projects, including the Katabalanga Water Supply Improvement Project and the Kangulumira Reservoir Project, are set to further enhance the region’s water and sanitation services. Eng. Mwandah appealed for additional logistical and financial support from the Head Office to ensure the timely completion of these initiatives, showing the pressing need for resources to meet their ambitious targets.

The visit by the SMOPs Central, Eng. Moses Bigabwa, included a crucial meeting with the Mubende Area staff, and in his address, Eng. Bigabwa lauded the team for their dedication and hard work, emphasizing the importance of reducing Non-Revenue Water to 14% by addressing leaks and other inefficiencies. He urged the team to focus on business growth through increased sales and customer engagement, leveraging their talents to enhance service delivery.

“Teamwork and performance improvement are vital,” Eng. Bigabwa stated, encouraging staff to learn from each other’s best practices and avoid distractions like gossip. His emphasis on personal development resonated deeply, as he encouraged staff to seize growth opportunities within the organization.
