The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), recognized across Africa for its commitment to delivering clean and safe water, continues to set benchmarks in service excellence. Yesterday, June 11th, 2024, NWSC hosted a delegation of eight representatives from Benin, led by Mr. Eric Serge Segandji Gbaguidi, Head of Wastewater and Sludge.
Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Joseph Tweheyo, the plant manager, who guided them through an enlightening tour of the Katosi Drinking Water Treatment Plant (KDWTP) in Mukono District. Mr. Tweheyo provided an overview of the plant’s achievements over the past three years, emphasizing its state-of-the-art automation system, and further noted that the modern technology and processes utilized in water treatment are not only efficient and effective but also streamline operations and enhance overall functionality. Also, he highlighted the importance of rigorous monitoring and the staff’s commitment to working in shifts under the supervision of overseers.
Eng. Tweheyo also shed light on the plant’s dedication to environmental conservation, stressing the significance of protecting water sources and implementing robust waste management practices. Notably, the Katosi Drinking Water Treatment Plant (DWTP) actively engages in community initiatives like tree planting, water source cleaning, and waste management.
Impressed by what they witnessed and heard, Mr. Gbaguidi commended NWSC for its innovative approaches to delivering high-quality services while prioritizing environmental preservation. He particularly praised the telemetry communication system for streamlining operations.
Notably, the Benin delegation is on a week-long benchmarking visit to explore different facets of NWSC and gain invaluable insights into how cutting-edge technology enhances operational efficiency and enriches service delivery.
