National Water and Sewerage Corporation’s Mubende Area joined the corporation’s Go Green Campaign dubbed “The NWSC Green Tree-volution” and planted 7000 trees as the Area kick-started the second phase of the campaign. The campaign is in line with NWSC’s commitment to plant at least 10 million trees by the year 2023, in various parts of the country, working with a number of stakeholders.

The Tree Planting exercise is meant to help NWSC achieve her goal of Water for All, while sustainably managing the environment and protecting water catchment areas.

Stakeholders, mostly comprised of schools namely; St. Charles Lwanga, Katente West Primary School, St. Charles Secondary School, Kasenyi Secondary School, and Mubende Army Rehabilitation Centre, among others were very cooperative and quite excited to be part of the drive.

During the official launch, the Director Personnel and Administration, Col. Stephen Kalasanyi thanked the Management of NWSC for the great initiative of planting trees. He commended the Area Management for fronting Mubende to be among the Project beneficiaries, and requested that they send as many more trees as possible. Col. Kalasanyi requested the Area Management to continue monitoring the trees to ensure that they grow.

“NWSC- Mubende should also show support towards our National celebrations like, Tarehe Sita so that we work as partners”, he stated.

SPRO-Central, Cream Ninsiima thanked the Area stakeholders for the great support rendered to the Area management. She also emphasized the need for planting trees in each school and homestead and intimated that a tree planted is a future secured.

The Area Manager echoed his support to the project and thanked all the stakeholders for embracing the campaign. He pledged to continue working with them to ensure that the assigned 40,000 trees are planted in this second season.
